Urban & Territorial Planning

Public and Private Buildings // Cultural Facilities

We are a team of architects and cultural managers who have been actively involved in the implementation processes of cultural facilities in Europe in the last years.

We can advise and design these cultural facilities which should guarantee the access to culture for all citizens: ensuring security & accessibility; suitability of the design space for its intended use; ability to integrate and discuss with other cultural facilities existing or that will exist; ensure connectivity to networks and facilities adapted to digital technologies.

Our teams have a solid and well established track record in:
Libraries // Museums // Theatres // Cultural Centres // Auditoriums // Interpretation centres in archaeological sites.

Every one of our projects has the quality required for all public buildings: Allowing a high degree of use, durability and a low energy consumption. To do this, the facilities have to be located in appropriate places, chosen as a result of planning that meets the objectives we want to achieve. Integrating into the urban environment where they are located, and minimizing the use and impacts that construction generates. It is always about minimizing the consumption of the natural resources available, reducing energy losses through the proper use of insulation materials and eliminating unwanted gains by using appropriate shading and passive protection systems. As well as the use of natural cooling resources, such as cross ventilation or the use of vegetation and water. Whenever possible, implanted renewable energy systems and energy saving criteria will be used.

We understand that sustainability is a key concept and has a broad scope that covers cultural, social, economical and energetic aspects. The general criteria for suitability will be developed more specifically for each facility typology, responding to the demands of each activity at the highest level. We firmly believe that new ways of making the contents and cultural experiences available to the people substantially contributes to the rebalancing of territories and social cohesion.

Tourism Development

Public and Private Buildings // Archeological Sites Interpretation Centres

The reading and understanding of places and its memory is the permanent goal of Architecture. This active role of Architecture, as an interpreter of the territory is even more evident when the place we are trying to revitalise is an archaeological site.

The projects focused on archaeological sites have to raise specific and generic challenges. The first difficulty is to understand how life was during a time over which we have no direct experience, and to revive places where life has been frozen for centuries. Architecture has to transform these sites into an active and present experience.

To overcome this distance in time and culture, the architectural project has to introduce and deal with narrative elements. This can help us understand the past from remains. Remains which we are unable to understand in most cases.
